Mid Century Modern Wall Art in a Modern Home – Melbourne Australia

Hi, today we are going to showcase our recent commissioned Abstract Art for the owners of this beautiful home in Melbourne, Australia.

The lovely couple contacted us and commissioned two original Large abstract paintings on paper,  inspired by some of our latest large mid century modern wall art on paper. They wanted the artwork in their custom colors and sent us some pictures and curious details of their recently refurbished living room.

We were very excited about this project since the beginning, as we immediately fell in love with the interiors, the refreshing mustard color of the armchair, the beautiful rusty orange shade of the carpet, the gorgeous authentic fireplace. This was a fresh place that needed two or three horizontal custom pieces to fill the empty wall over the large dark blue grey couch.

They wanted us to use mauve, blue, mustard, orange, grey. They also liked the use of shapes as they were going for a bit of mid century look in the space as the house and fireplace were built in the 1950s. We decided to use in the paintings some Abstract Geometric Shapes that slightly resemble the stones of the fireplace and the pattern of the carpet. We thought the background of the painting had to be with light colors as the overall look had to be subtle and not too busy or overwhelming, in order to enhance the beauty of the interior.

We sent them a color board for their approval and started painting the two pieces 100×70 cm each (approx. 40×28″). We also suggested only two pieces as the couch was 2.8 m long, so we thought two pieces each 100 cm (total 2 m or 6,7 ft ) would be fine for that wall. Three pieces instead would be long 3 m (10 ft) and would not fit the couch well.

It was a lovely project to do as we were inspired all the time while working on it. When we sent to the clients the photos of the paintings, they were very happy with the outcome.
